7th Annual Mushroom Festival

The Cultural Association of Sinies, along with the Corfu Mushroom Lovers Association and the Greek Mushroom Lovers Association, is co-organizing the 7th Annual Mushroom Festival on Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9, 2024, in Sinies (Agia Varvara – Porta Sinion). The festival will feature mushroom foraging excursions, truffle hunts with trained truffle dogs, lectures and informational sessions on mushrooms, an art and craft exhibition centered on mushrooms and nature by local elementary schools and kindergartens.

This year, mushroom enthusiasts from abroad, including delegations from Serbia, Croatia, Italy, and Cyprus, as well as mushroom lover associations from across Greece, will attend the festival. The program for the event includes:

Friday, November 8, 2024 (exclusively for elementary schools):

09:30 – 11:00 a.m.: Lecture, presentation, and guided mushroom foraging excursion for young students on the topic “Getting to Know Mushrooms” – at Agia Varvara Porta Sinion.

11:15 – 12:30 p.m.: Mushroom creations and children’s workshop.

Saturday, November 9, 2024:

12:00 p.m.: Gathering at Agia Varvara Porta Sinion (church courtyard) for a guided mushroom foraging expedition in the Sinies area. Participants should bring a basket and a knife.

3:00 p.m.: Demonstration of truffle hunting with trained truffle dogs.

Upon return from the excursion, mushroom soup will be offered.

4:00 p.m.: Workshop – "Getting to Know the Mushrooms of Greece" by researcher and mushroom educator, Mr. George Konstantinidis (President of the Greek Mushroom Lovers Association).

5:30 p.m.: Tasting event led by the incredible Mushroom Chef Fotis Paraskevaidis (guests will enjoy mushroom soup, grilled mushrooms, and other mushroom delicacies prepared by the chef). The event will continue with a celebration featuring food and live music by the band “Ta paidia tou MPERDE”

An exhibition of artwork and crafts centered on mushrooms and nature, created by students from local kindergartens and elementary schools, will be displayed at the venue.

The event is supported by the Municipality of North Corfu, the Local Council of Sinies, the Social Cooperative Enterprise (KOINSEP) of Sinies, the Greek Mushroom Lovers Association, the Kassios Dias Association, and local accommodation owners who will host the delegations of mushroom enthusiasts from abroad and across Greece.
