The “Agios Nikolaos” Philharmonic Association of Lakones is an active cultural organization in the community of Lakones, Corfu, participating in concerts, parades, and musical events that promote the island’s strong philharmonic tradition.
The Philharmonic Union of Lakones (FEL) was founded in 1991 and made its first appearance in the village of Lakones during the Pentecost procession. Over the years, it gradually took part in all local religious processions and parades, as well as events in other parts of Corfu.
The association was named after the village church, which donated the building where the Philharmonic is still housed today, hosting rehearsals and music lessons. The building was later renovated with the contribution of General Georgios Loukanaris, a benefactor of the Philharmonic.
In recent years, the Philharmonic has participated in community events such as the Varkarola and has organized concerts during Christmas, Easter, and the summer season. The association is chaired by Kostas Michalas, with musical training supported by conductor and brass instructor Alexis Artavanis, woodwind instructor Adriano Stanisel, and percussion instructor Giannis Michalas.
