The association was founded in 1987 under the name “Children and Music” and was later renamed in 1996 to “Friends of Music” of Corfu. It is a non-profit organization, legally registered with the Court of First Instance, operating under an official statute and governed by a five-member Board of Directors elected every two years by the association’s members.
In 1996, the association founded the Ionian Conservatory, following all legal procedures. The Conservatory is officially recognized by the Greek State.
The Ionian Conservatory awards all officially recognized music qualifications (Diplomas and Degrees), equivalent to those issued by conservatories throughout Greece.
The Conservatory offers full departments in strings, wind instruments, music theory, vocal studies, contemporary music, and modern music programs, among others.
