The Museum of Asian Art Corfu welcomes the public to the thematic guided tours “The Many Faces of Buddha in Asia”, organized for International Museum Day 2026.
Responding to this year’s ICOM theme, “Bridging Divided Worlds through Museums”, the event highlights the museum as a space for intercultural dialogue and cultural understanding through art and history.
Through selected exhibits from China, Japan, Nepal, Tibet, Cambodia, India and the Greco-Buddhist art of Gandhara, visitors will discover the spread of Buddhism and the different artistic interpretations of Buddha across Asia. The guided tours focus on the iconographic and stylistic analysis of Buddha sculptures and portraits, revealing local artistic traditions and religious adaptations connected to the expansion of Buddhism.
