Founding Democracy – Educational Exhibition | November 3–17, 2026

The educational exhibition “Making Democracy in Greece and America” is presented at the Public Central Historical Library of Corfu until November 17, 2026, exploring the historical connections and democratic ideals that have brought Greece and the United States together over the centuries.

Marking the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, the exhibition traces the evolution of democratic ideas and their lasting influence on political thought and society.

Through historical narratives, archival material, images and video, visitors can discover how democratic principles travelled between the two countries. Particular attention is given to the intellectual exchange between Thomas Jefferson and Adamantios Korais, highlighting the dialogue between Greek and American political traditions.

The exhibition is organized by the U.S. Embassy in Greece and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture. In Corfu, it is hosted by the Public Central Historical Library of Corfu and American Space Corfu.
