The Municipal Choir “San Giacomo” of Central Corfu was founded in 1981 and is one of the island’s most prominent choral ensembles.
Its repertoire includes opera, operetta, classical works, liturgical music, oratorios, requiems, as well as compositions by Ionian and Greek composers. The choir has participated in numerous national and international festivals, earning awards and distinctions.
It has collaborated with major Greek symphony orchestras as well as orchestras abroad, performing in renowned venues such as the Konzerthaus in Berlin (Carmina Burana), the Capitol in Rome, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Athens Concert Hall, and the Panathenaic Stadium.
Recent productions include The Apaches of Athens, The Godson, Zorba the Greek, Mantzaros’ Orthodox Liturgy, Spiritual March, Axion Esti, Maria Callas Tribute Concert, Cavalleria Rusticana and The Princess of Sasson.
