Corfu Fortifications is an independent cultural initiative dedicated to the protection, promotion, and public awareness of the historic fortifications of Corfu.

Created in December 2010, the initiative focuses on highlighting the historical and cultural importance of the fortification works that shaped the identity of Corfu and contributed to its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Its main goals are:

  • promoting awareness of the historical value of Corfu’s fortresses,
  • encouraging public participation in their protection,
  • supporting the preservation and promotion of the island’s defensive monuments,
  • showcasing the fortifications as a major cultural and economic asset for modern Corfu.

Through educational content, historical documentation, and public engagement, Corfu Fortifications actively contributes to preserving the island’s fortified heritage and strengthening its cultural identity.
