The Vouniatades Choir of Corfu was founded in June 2010 and made its first public appearance in October of the same year at the 3rd Choral Meeting of the Municipality of Feakes, held in Kato Korakiana, Corfu.
Since then, the choir has participated regularly in choral meetings, festivals and cultural events both in Corfu and beyond. It has performed in many parts of Greece, including Karditsa, Larissa, Itea, Arta, Kozani, Velventos, Almyros Volos, Messolonghi and Epidaurus, as well as at events in southern Italy and Bulgaria.
Since August 2011, it has organized an annual Choral Meeting in the village square of Vouniatades, welcoming choirs from Corfu, other regions of Greece and abroad.
The choir consists of approximately 30 members. Its repertoire includes traditional Corfiot serenades, Greek art songs and folk music, as well as the sacred music of Polykratis and religious hymns by Greek and international composers. It also participates in religious celebrations in the village and in other events upon invitation.
The Vouniatades Choir is a member of the Corfu Choirs Union, while some of its performances are accompanied by the Corfu Mandolin Ensemble.
Piano accompaniment is provided by Alexandros Sifakis, a student at the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University. Since its foundation, the choir has been conducted by Spyridon Bohalis, a secondary education teacher and conductor of several choral ensembles in Corfu.
