The botanical art exhibition “Anthografia II” is hosted at the “Thanos Christou” Art Hall of the Municipal Art Gallery of Central Corfu and the Diapontian Islands, from 17 July to 21 August 2026.
Drawing attention to Greece’s long history as the birthplace of botany, the exhibition celebrates the beauty and diversity of Greek flora. Through contemporary artistic creation, it explores the relationship between people and nature while encouraging greater interest in the art of botanical illustration.
The first “Anthografia” exhibition was held in 2025 at the Goulandris Natural History Museum. Curated by Sue Wake, it featured contemporary artists connected both to Greece and to botanical art.
The Corfu exhibition is enriched with works by British botanist and artist Felicity Baxter from the Municipal Art Gallery’s collections. It also includes studies by Giorgos Sfikas focusing on the Taygetos mountains and Judith Efstathiou-Allen’s work “Mapping the Walk”, inspired by the island of Kea.
The exhibition’s transfer to and presentation in Corfu was initiated by Vasilis Drakopoulos, owner of Mar-Bella Collection, and Anastasia Psarra, Corporate Communications & ESG Manager of the hotel group.
The exhibition is supported by the Society of Botanical Artists, the Mediterranean Garden Society, the Goulandris Natural History Museum, Mar-Bella Collection and Lagou Raxi Country Hotel.
